CHATEAU HAUT-BACALAN
In the Middle Ages, the Gonets were wine brokers in Beaujolais. In the 15th century, they went up to Champagne, where they acquired the title of laborer. Generations succeeded each other until Charles Gonet decided in 1802 to found his own brand of champagne. Theophile, Charles, Jacques, and Michel, in each generation, led the development of the family society.
In 1973, Michel Gonet modernized and enlarged the cellars located in the heart of the Côte des Blancs in Avize and bought a few years after the Château de Vindey.
In the 1980s, the Gonet family acquired the Château Lesparre in 1986 with the Graves de Vayres and Bordeaux Supérieur appellations, then the Châteaux D'Eck and Haut-Bacalan under the name Pessac Léognan in 1998 and 1999. His three children Charles-Henri, Frédéric and Sophie succeeded him.
