AMPHORALIS
In the heart of Narbonne, a workshop of Galoo-Roman potters was discovered from 1976, near the present village of Sallèles d'Aude.
The Museum overlooks the archaeological excavations of the workshop, active from the 1st century BC to the end of the 3rd century. The visitor discovers the everyday life and activity of these potters who lived on site and mass produced Gaulish type 4 wine amphorae but also different building materials (bricks, tiles) and everyday crockery.
In the park of the museum, an external route leads to the reconstructions of furnaces and a habitat, constructed identical to the recovered vestiges.
Finally, a stroll through the Arboretum allows to discover wood species used at the time for cooking and to understand the regeneration of a forest.
