Le Circuit du Chêne

Le Circuit du Chêne

Let it be said, without oak, no cognac ! Indeed, wood plays an essential role in the final expression of cognac. This oak is that of the barrels intended to receive the brandy extracted at the end of the double heating in the still charentais. It is in this case that the cognac will age and its tannins will give its beautiful amber or gold color to the divine brew.

Where do the oaks come from ? What is kept of the wood once it has been cut down? This is what will first reveal the visit to the merrandier. The circuit will continue in the cooper to understand all the technicality of the manufacture of a barrel and will end at the foot of the Charentais still of the Brothers Moine with visit of the cellar. Of course, a tasting of cognac or pineau will make it possible to recall in the mouth all this long process of manufacture.
