"Le château de Mayenne" is rich of more than thousand years of history. Initially Carolingian palace builds in 900 ‐ 920, it becomes castle, prison then museum. It shelters medieval departmental collections but also objects found at the time of the archaeological excavations of the site. Architecture and collections are highlighted by an alive and interactive museography and many animations, guided tours and temporary exhibitions.

Engaged in a voluntarist policy in favour of all publics, "Le musée du château de Mayenne" adapts to the differents needs for its public and proposes various visits and workshops, adapted to each one (see program).
