Les Jardins de Kerdalo

Jardins de Kerdalo

Born in 1901 in St. Petersburg, Peter Wolkonsky spent a great period of his life painting with his mother, mainly in Italy and Provence. He later designed and created gardens.

In 1965, he began the realization of Kerdalo on the acid and hilly land of an old farm overlooking the river Jaudy, opposite the old town of Tréguier. Ponds, waterfalls, water stairs, caves, pavilions will be built in a few years. With the help of great nurseries like Harold Hillier of Winchester, the choice of plants will be done thoroughly for their botanical rarity but especially for their colors. More than 5000 plants will find their place in these 17 hectares !

In 2005, the Gardens of Kerdalo were awarded the 'Remarkable Garden' label and were registered in 2007 with the Inventory of Historical Monuments.
