Château de Boussac

Chateau de Boussac

Particularly impressive on its rocky outcrop from the Valley of the Creuse, the Castle of Boussac has a turbulent history. Built in the 12th century, ruined during the Hundred Years War, rebuilt, fortified and embellished. Before being undermined during the Revolution. George Sand has stayed there several times. It became a sub-prefecture, a gendarmerie, an annex to the fairground where the pigs would have been parked. The castle was saved from ruin in 1965 and restored with rare taste by its current owners who live in the castle.

The visit of this historic monument of four floors - monumental fireplaces, tapestries, huge kitchen with rare utensils, old woodwork, period furniture, ... - is often completed by a presentation of original collections and quality exhibitions.
