Atelier Musée de la Soie

Atelier musée de la soie

A lively and exciting industrial heritage ...

The Musée de la Soie was created in 1985 by Pierre Lançon, from a family of silk mills. In 2001, the commune of Taulignan buys all the private collection of the Museum to install it in the heart of the village.

The Museum is a communal structure. He retraces the evolution of silk work with ancient machines dating from the 18th and 19th century, presenting the different stages: sericulture (silkworm farming), spinning (yarn extraction), milling (wire twisting ) And weaving (fabric manufacture).

The visitor discovers a living and interactive heritage thanks to the machines in operation and to a breeding of silkworms (from the end of April to the beginning of October). One can admire the ingenuity of our ancestors such as Vaucanson (1709 - 1782), Jacquard (1752 - 1834)...
