Abbaye de Beauport
In the bay of Paimpol, the Abbey of Beauport is a remarkably preserved monastic complex, a major witness to religious architecture in Brittany.
In the 13th century, canons of Premonstratensy installed at the request of account Alain de Goëlo. For 500 years, they will shape this place and their environment according to the monastic rules and the needs of their community life. Closed to the French Revolution and then sold as national property, the buildings and the abbey were transformed into barns, town halls, bourgeois apartments, schools and cider houses.
Thanks to the program of restoration born of the partnership of the Conservatoire du Littoral, owner of the sites since 1992 and the county council of Côtes d'Armor, the Beauport site is discovered through exhibitions, shows and cultural events.
