Les 9 écluses de Fonseranes, Canal du midi Béziers

The Canal du Midi, created during the reign of Louis XIV, comes down to the foot of Béziers thanks to the 9 locks of Fonseranes, a masterpiece of engineering and aesthetics. The completely renovated site reopened to the public in July 2017 and since then it offers guided tours, scenovision films, cruises, walks, scooter rides – you have all the means at your disposal to discover this jewel of the World Heritage of Humanity ! The visit of other showpieces of the city will be perfect to complete your itinerary : the St Nazaire Cathedral, its panoramic view and its cloister with soft light, the church of St Madeleine witnessing burning catharism, the ancient alleys and their private mansions, the Paul Riquet alleys, the garden of the Poets, the arenas... The wine-growing grounds and protected seaside will be perfect to complete your stay at the Canal.
