CYRANO DE BERGERAC

THE CID

Molière-award winning stage director Jean-Phillipe Daguerre offers his own sensational sword-fighting piece in Corneille's masterpiece The Cid this spring, an affecting tragicomedy punctuated with heartrending scenes of family duty, forbidden love, yet lightened by the witty comedy laced throughout .

THE BOURGEOIS GENTLEMAN (LE BOURGEOIS GENTILHOMME)
The Bourgeois Gentleman is a scathing satire that sought to make a mockery of the upper middle class of its time. The play features a rich upstart who aims to acquire good manners in order to obtain nobility – which often ends with a series of clumsy and unfortunate mishaps! A masterpiece of the genre and a personal favorite of Louis XIV, this work is a fantastic amalgamation of music, song, and dance: a great way to familiarize yourself with the French spirit of the 17th century.
