The Bald Soprano (La cantatrice chauve)

A record-breaking play, written by Eugène Ionesco, The Bald Soprano portrays the absurdities of 1950s society. Since its release, this cultural touchstone has captivated 2.5 million spectators with its unique blend of troubling and hilarious commentary on everyday life. Originally an avant-garde play, it follows the story of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, who encounter peculiar coincidences and incomprehensible incongruities when their friends, the Martins, visit them. The Lesson (La leçon)

The world’s longest continually-performing show with a hilariously troubling commentary, The Lesson, written by Eugène Ionesco! The story starts when a young student arrives at her tutor’s place for a private lesson. Eventually, when imposing his authority, the Professor’s teaching methods become a little too dictatorial and oppressive for the young student. This play explores themes of dominance, manipulation, and the warnings of unchecked power. A thought-provoking play that has captivated audiences for over 60 years, offers a reflection on the human condition, authoritarianism, and totalitarianism.
