The French Open or Roland Garros is a clay tennis tournament created in 1925 and held annually since 1928 in Paris, in the Roland Garros stadium. It succeeds the French Championship created in 1891. Organized by the French Tennis Federation, it takes place on the last week of May and the first week of June. It is one of four Grand Slam tournaments, the second in the calendar after the Australian Open in January. Next is the Wimbledon tournament, last week of June and first week of July, then the US Open in August.
