Les Forges des Salles
The Forges des Salles site is home to one of the oldest woodforts in Brittany, an exceptional vestige of prosperous and industrial activity for three centuries. The activity of the forge stopped in 1877, but the village continued to live and here it is today preserved and restored. The home of the forge master, the chapel, the school, the blacksmiths 'and carpenters' workshops, the halls and the blast furnace, tell the unique story of living in community more than 200 years ago.
A permanent exhibition deals with themes as diverse as exciting, on the history of the steel industry and forges des Salles, the charcoal and the ore, the steel technique, and the life of the Breton workers and their families in the forest, in the forge and in community, without forgetting the role of the leaders.
